Hutchinson & Partners recently welcomed Part I Professional Practice students from the University of Suffolk’s BA (Hons) Architecture course to the studio to give them a tour and a presentation on our approach and working practices.
The visit represents our second year of involvement in the ongoing programme, led by their tutor Ben Powell, in which Hutchinson & Partners have helped to mentor students in professional practice, giving them an opportunity to shadow ongoing projects, attend key meetings with the Client and Consultants alike, and to visit live construction sites.
The course focusses on offering an understanding of the ethos, role and social responsibility of architects in practice, and provides some necessary knowledge around construction, the relevant processes and regulations as well as the role of the architect.
We hope that the experience has given them a good insight into the working life of an architect, and a better knowledge of what may be their future profession, and we look forward to our continued involvement in the programme and to meeting the next set of students.
