Jörn Rabach

Dipl.-Ing. RIBA ARB

Director

Jörn joined Hutchinson & Partners in June 2019 as a Director to head the Berlin office.

This follows six years at Makower Architects London, having formed the practice with Tim Makower in 2013, and grown its team to 30 people strong. In addition to playing a senior role in the practice management, Jörn was the design lead for a large variety of key projects ranging from private and commercial residential schemes such as West Hendon Waterside to a half-million square feet office and retail development in Doha, Qatar.

Being a German national, Jörn studied at the Technische Universität in Darmstadt and became a registered architect in 2010. Prior to his time as a Director at Makower Architects, Jörn worked for several architectural and industrial design offices including Allies and Morrison, where he worked on the delivery of several London-based projects such as a new office building within in the Kings Cross masterplan and the London headquarter of the Rambert Dance Company.  He also lead the design team for a local mosque in the Msheireb masterplan in Doha, Qatar.  Having also worked on the design of a series of high quality town houses for the same client, his responsibilities included helping to define the residential brief and develop the practice’s approach to the local residential culture and to the particular aspirations of the developer client, as well as co-ordinating the practice’s work with the Executive Architect to ensure the accurate translation of Design Intent into construction information.

Jörn has experience across all RIBA stages from inception through to completion, a versatility that makes him particularly well-suited to complex projects. He is looking forward to bringing his diverse international experience to Berlin and to offer a fresh voice to the city’s vibrant architectural community.
