Hutchinson & Partners presented their ‘Living Above the Shop’ talk as part of the London Festival of Architecture’s dynamic programme of events. The practice covered the wide sweeping topic using illustrations of their own work alongside historical precedents and predictions of future trends, with talks from three Directors, Ross Hutchinson, Tom Wynne and James Bazeley. The talk was held in a pop-up gallery space on the historic Sicilian Avenue in Holborn, kindly sponsored by the generous Labs Worldwide.
The talk also marked the start of an exhibition entitled ‘Fragments’ that runs until the 29th June at the space on Sicilian Avenue. This is an exhibition of models that reflect the way in which projects from Hutchinson & Partners catalogue of work have sought to explore and reflect the surroundings within which they have been conceived. The exhibition takes a series of projects at a variety of scales, and presents them as an abstracted fragment of London, so in turn encouraging the viewer to consider the historic and cultural conditions of their creation. Many thanks to those who attended, and for all of the questions that were asked, it was certainly a lively discussion, and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
