AJ Architecture Awards 2021: Finalist

Hutchinson & Partners are delighted to announce that Victoria House has been shortlisted for Heritage Building of the Year in the AJ Architecture Awards 2021.

Developed in collaboration with the workspace provider LABS Group, the project is a retrofit of an imposing 1920’s Neoclassical Grade II Listed office building in the heart of Holborn.

The building contains approximately three hundred thousand square feet of office space, alongside retail, hospitality, and event spaces, arranged over thirteen storeys. The phased refurbishment has introduced a new, more sensitive approach that seeks to introduce a language of high quality, durable, natural materials and considered detailing that compliment the historic fabric of the building.

Programmatically, the building has been reimagined as a series of flexible spaces arranged around a social heart, that provides opportunities for serendipitous encounters, quiet contemplation, alongside formal and informal meeting space.

The awards ceremony will be held on 17th November 2021 where the winner will be announced.

Carmody Groarke, Acanthus Clews Architects and Buttress  are the three other practices that made the Heritage Building of the Year shortlist.
