Assistant Architect Part 1
Cathal joined Hutchinson & Partners in summer 2025 as a Part I Architectural Assistant. Originally from Kerry, Ireland, he previously gained experience at Tadhg Casey Architects and Cotter & Naessens Architects, where he worked across a range of civic, residential, and cultural projects rooted in local context and community engagement.
During his time with Cotter & Naessens, he contributed to the design of the new University of Limerick Student Centre and supported the practice’s work as Ireland’s representatives at the Venice Architecture Biennale, which he had the opportunity to attend in person. These experiences deepened his interest in architecture’s civic potential and the social role of design in the public realm.
Now based in London, he is broadening his experience and deepening his understanding of architectural practice within an international context. He hopes to carry these insights forward as he returns to University College Cork in September 2025 to begin his Master’s in Architecture, continuing to explore socially responsive and place-specific design.
