The team recently went to site to see the latest progress on the fast-paced progress of construction on the Silk Stream project for St.George.
Hutchinson & Partners gained planning in 2020 for the first phase of the mixed-use scheme in Hendon, which will comprise 770 mixed tenure homes across 9 buildings set amongst raised courtyard gardens. Phase 1 will also include a new supermarket as well as residential amenities including a gym and screening room.
The store, with its very impressive colonnade, is taking shape and is due to open by the end of 2024. Blocks 01 & 05 above the store entrance will be the first homes to be open as part of this phase, which is scheduled to fully complete by 2028 and Phase 2 by 2031.
Along with Phase 2, designed by Makower Architects, the scheme will deliver 1309 new homes in total and a new public park, designed by Murdoch Wickham as well as the opening up of the historic Silk Stream which runs along the edge of the site. 35% of the new homes will be affordable housing.
