Emily joined Hutchinson & Partners in June 2020 for her placement year while studying Part 1 at the University of Bath. She is thoroughly enjoying her studies at University, investigating project briefs, analysing site and local context as well as exploring the environmental impacts and structural detailed design elements for each design. She has previously worked at ECD Architects Ltd. in London for a summer placement where she helped with various tasks for projects ranging from small-scale reconstructions of residential one- storey dwellings to large-scale constructions of residential apartment blocks.
Having undertaken a History of Art Research Project investigating ‘The influence of Mathematics in Italian Renaissance Architecture’ as well as an Art Dissertation exploring ‘To what extent architects consider form over function’, in secondary school, Emily has furthered her academic passion for the classical language of architecture in dissertations at University comparing and contrasting different approaches to the ancient classical churches such as, Sant’ Andrea and St Stephen Walbrook. Her drive for all elements of her University course are to be complemented by her involvement in practice.
