Hutchinson & Partners are thrilled to be taking part in this year’s Gingerbread City in collaboration with The Museum of Architecture. For the first year ever the exhibition will be held at the V&A and will be on show for a month over the festive period.
Taking on the challenge of a Skyline Building and tasked to respond to this years’ theme of ‘Imagining the Future City’, our gingerbread masterpiece ‘White Christmas Square’ takes design inspiration from our very own Whitechapel Square project. The 520mm tall G +12 storey, mixed-use, high density, gingerbread building is set within a generous public square with a sugar ice rink at its centre. Shops and community uses at the lower levels line the public space whilst above are much needed freshly baked new homes. A gilded crown completes the composition with its green gum-drop roof garden providing stunning views over the rest of the Gingerbread City beyond.
Our Gingerbread building will be one of over 70 that makes up this year’s Gingerbread City Exhibition with entries from a host of architectural practices including; AHMM, Foster + Partners, Hawkins/Brown & many more.
Opening Dates: 8th December. 2018 – 6th January, 2019
Venue: V&A South Kensington, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL Creative Studio, Level 4
