We are pleased to announce that two of our recent projects will be showcased within the New London Architecture’s upcoming Insight Study publication entitled Resilient London. In the lead-up to COP26in November 2021, this report will examine the role that London as a world leading city is playing in mitigating climate change, and preparing for future climate events, with a showcase of key projects and initiatives being led in the city.

The first project is 97-107 Uxbridge Road, a major new workplace in the heart of Ealing’s Office Quarter. As well as significantly reducing carbon emissions through the use of renewable energy, the overarching approach is one of long-life loose-fit, in line with the practice’s ethos to design new buildings that are inherently sustainable through their adaptability and robustness, and therefore longevity of use by generations to come. The second project is Victoria House is a Grade II listed building in the heart of Bloomsbury. The formidable existing building lent itself very well to the long-life/loose-fit approach. It has large structural spans, high floor-to-floor heights and a rational layout and facade. As such our approach to the retrofit of this building was to ensure that these principles remained relevant, and a flexible attitude to the division of the open floor plates was adopted so that the office space could easily accommodate an everchanging pattern of inhabitation. The approach creates a high quality, well serviced building within the shell of the existing historic building through a series of minimal, but high impactful interventions.Further details of the project can be found using this link.
