Hutchinson & Partners have recently received planning approval from the London Borough of Ealing for a major new workplace, located in the heart of Ealing’s Business Quarter, with a significant majority of local councillors supporting the proposals.
Located between Uxbridge Road and Walpole Park, and in close proximity to Ealing’s two new Crossrail stations, the placemaking led scheme will replace the two existing buildings on the site that have reached the end of their natural life, as well as the extensive existing car park.
The proposals will provide 235,000sq.ft of flexibly designed adaptable work space including affordable workspace over ten floors. At street level, the ground floor and mezzanine level will see publicly accessible spaces, whilst the scheme also propoese significant enhancements to the public realm, including the creation of a new pedestrian journey with a passage through the buildings that offers the opportunity to connect the Uxbridge Road to Walpole Park. The building, composed of two conjoined forms, enjoys external space at all levels in the form of in-board balconies and terraces for amenity and wellbeing, with a roof terrace to the lower building offering aspects over Walpole Park and to central London beyond.
