Ladbroke Grove Planning Consent

Ladbroke Grove Planning Consent

We are delighted to report that yesterday evening Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea consented Ballymore and Sainsbury’s planning application for Kensal Canalside.

It’s a project that Hutchinson & Partners have been involved in since 2018 with FaulknerBrowns,
the masterplan architects, Maccreanor Lavington and Spacehub.

Over the next 11 years the proposals will transform the 19 acre site, currently occupied by an existing Sainsbury’s supermarket and former gasworks, into a vibrant new neighbourhood comprising shops, cafes, restaurants, leisure facilities and community spaces together with 2,519 homes. It has been said by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to be the most significant development in the borough for over sixty years.

The phase of the project we have worked on for over 7 years comprises 944 mixed tenure homes arranged in eight buildings around podium gardens and a new Sainsbury’s store together with community, leisure and workplace facilities.

Thank you to Ballymore and Sainsbury’s for the opportunity to work on this once in a generation project. Thank you too to our many collaborators and to the planning officers of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It’s been an honour for Hutchinson & Partners to have been part of such a great team.

Lastly, thank you to the many people from our practice, past and present, who have worked on the project.
